help please?

Here's a prompt I have written. I have writers block. Where to go next? I want a very simplistic story line.
She wanted to live like she had never lived before. She wanted to slip into the arms of a plastic DvD case on the Romantic Comedy shelf in the video rental place downtown. She wanted to snuggle into it and that is where she would call home. So she packed her bags and she said goodbye to her father and her mother and her sister and she said, “This time I am going to do it right.”
It's a metaphor

I like the last line, "this time I am going to do it right."

What were the last times? How were those times wrong? What makes this time different? Was she focused on the wrong things those last times? Is she focused on the right thing now? What is the right thing? How does she know it? What does she mean by right? What if it goes wrong, or rather what about what happens when it does go wrong. It must go wrong of course because without conflict there isn't really a story. So what is the wrong that will contrast with the right? are the times different or is she? How does she become different?

Copy Right?

How do Video and DVD rental stores rent movies and games with out violating the copy right law. How does netflix stream movies to internet customers PC's without violating copy right law?
Further clarification: As long as I do not make a copy of the DVD and I do not let the customer make a copy of it, then I can resale it by renting it to them? So I just have to get licensed as a video rental business? If I bought my content from a wholesaler that is on a harddrive, Then I should be able to resale by streaming the content and safeguarding it's from being copied by the end user?

Thanks Miles

Second part of your question first. Netflix and your Cable Tv/Satellite provider pay royalties and liscense fees to provide their downloading and viewing services.

Video stores actually did get taken to court over the issue back in the 80s. And basically it was decided that they purchased the product and are simply reselling it via rentals. It would be illegal for them to make copies of it and rent or sell the copies, but as long as it is an original product it is legal. There is nothing to stop you from going into Barnes & Noble, buying a book and then selling that book as used after you've read it. But, you can't go to a copy machine and duplicate it and sell the copies.
