Taking A Look At The Karaoke MP3
There is no such thing as a truly free, karaoke MP3. While sites like www.ez-tracks.com offer “101 free legal karaoke songs,” the price you pay makes you subject to advertisement after advertisement. They pop up on the page, they invade your email inbox, they interrupt your song searches. For some it is well worth it, but others just want an easier system. One would think that the iTunes store would be full of karaoke tunes, although the offerings are still unimpressive for the seasoned veteran and many tracks don’t have lyrics automatically included. Despite these setbacks, there are a number of places to look for online karaoke music.
There are several things to look for when downloading karaoke MP3 files. Some files feature recordings from the original band members, with the vocals removed. Others have professional recording artists performing the tracks, with the vocals removed. Other tracks come with the vocals and allow you to cancel out the vocals on your karaoke system, if your system comes with that feature. It is important to understand the features and the limitations of your karaoke equipment before you start browsing for music.
Another factor to consider is its extension. Most downloads will come as “.mp3″ files, although some may say “midi,”"mp3+g” or “mp4.” Midi sometimes sounds like keyboard music and is often a very different version, so you will want to avoid those. The MP3+G are good because they have the lyrics included that can be output to video. MP4 format may be a music file and an accompanying music video file, which is fine if you want the videos more than the lyrics.
It is a natural assumption that where there is the internet, there is free everything. Unfortunately, the market selling karaoke downloads is still pretty hot and you are not likely to find any sites offering free karaoke MP3 files. You may be able to find some downloads on peer-to-peer applications like LimeWire or BearShare; however, these sites are growing increasingly more unreliable and havens for computer viruses. Newsgroups like www.usenet-replayer.com/cgi/content/archive may have online karaoke files for download, although these sites are fairly limited in their offerings. IRC file sharing channels like www.searchirc.com or www.irc.netsplit.de are popular ways of getting downloads because of the vast amount of accessible content, although it is technically illegal to share content this way, it may leave your computer vulnerable to hackers and it isn’t user friendly.
There are a number of sites offering legal karaoke MP3 files for purchase. At www.singme.com, you can download karaoke MP3s for 88 cents and video karaoke for $1.50. They specialize in children’s music, nursery rhymes, gospel and holiday music. At www.amazon.com, you can download 73,219 karaoke MP3s for 89 to 99 cents each. Other sites with large selections are www.karaoke.com, www.karaoke-version.com and www.ez-tracks.com. With a monthly subscription to Napster for $12.95/month, you can download unlimited karaoke music files to be played on your computer or your iRiver.
Is it musicians who are harmed by free downloads, or just the big label giants?
It’s the ultimate controversial topic of modern times and it’s making headlines almost every day. It seems that everyone, whoever they may be and whether they really understand the concept of downloading music or not, has an opinion to give on the subject. Even amongst musicians opinions are divided – there are those who think it spells the end of the music industry and those who are happy for their music to be readily available to a much wider audience of potential fans who would never have heard it otherwise.
The debate has been raging for years and it really doesn’t look like it’s likely to reach a compromise any time soon. Remember when Metallica eventually managed to get Napster closed down? Everyone thought that was the end of downloads – it seemed the time of being able to get music for free was doomed to be over almost before it had begun. But then came Limewire, the Pirate Bay and countless other file sharing sites, always managing to stay one step ahead.
Metallica certainly had a point, and they are far from the only musicians to have spoken out against free downloads and the impact it has on the finances of the big label music industry. With CDs becoming more and more overpriced it’s not so surprising that people are turning to downloads, but not everyone realises the effect this could have on the music we all love. However there are those who believe that the music industry as we know it has had its day and that the future of music lies with the people recording their own tracks with DJ software on their home computers and publicising the music themselves online. This is only possible because the music is available online for free, and these are the genuine music lovers who are in it for the music not the money.
The latest in a long line of musicians to voice his opinions is Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody. Although his band are hugely successful and far from being small and unsigned, he believes that being able to get music for free is just the modern way and that the penalties for those involved in filesharing are ‘way over the top’. He was speaking specifically about the recent conviction of the four founding members of The Pirate Bay, who have each been given a one year jail sentence and told to pay $3.48 million in damages to several large entertainment companies claiming to have made losses. The group are launching an appeal as although they understand hese companies could well be out of pocket, there was no way to know how much by, and it was discovered that the judge conveniently happened to be a member of the Swedish Copyright Association.
There is no sign that the debate on filesharing is close to an end, and certainly no sign of a truce being reached. There is no question that it is damaging to the record label giants’ and huge stadium rock bands’ incomes, but at the same time it enables the little guys at home recording their tracks with an Akai home studio and set of headphones to get an equal chance of being heard. Maybe there is no right or wrong answer.

Choosing A Musical Instrument For Your Child
Many parents want to encourage their children to learn to play a musical instrument, to encourage their musical development.
A music keyboard is often the first instrument. These are reasonably priced and stimulate an interest in music even in very young children. Ask your school music teacher for advice, because some of the very low cost keyboards are very limited. Like a real piaano, higher priced keyboards play notes softer when they are hit softer.
Your child may enjoy the sound of a particluar instrument. This can be a major motivational factor, so it is a good idea to go with the child’s ideas, at least initially. Many children change the instrument they play in the first few years of their music education.
Many children may find it easier to play woodwind instruments like a clarinet than brass instruments like trumpets and trombones. Woodwind instruments do not require the lip vibrations that brass players need.
Most young people’s choice of musical instrument is a matter of chance. It depends on what instrument is favored by visiting music tutors.
More professional musicains play violin than any other instrument. This is one reason parents often encourage their children to take up the violin. When buying a violin you need to be aware of certain things.
You can buy a violin for less than 70 dollars on the Internet. Should you buy it? You should buy a inexspensive instrument if you want to avoid the hassle of renting.
A violin is much more than a pair of shoes. Shoes are designed to be used and thrown away when they wears out. A well made student violincan last for hundreds of years when taken care of. A lesser cost violin can be disgarded when and if the child no longer desires to play. Buying a low cost quality student violin is a good way to determine if your child really has an interest in learning to play.
It might be a better idea to rent an instrument before you buy if your child is just beginning to learn to play until you determine if they will stick with it or not. You should consider buying at this point. Buy a cheaper instrument to begin with if you don’t have access to a rental program.
You need to buy the best music instrumentsyou are able to afford. Price is definitely linked with tonal quality and the higher price the better the tone for the most part. You will be able to notice differences between the varying musical instruments so listen to a range of trumpets, violins, and electric pianos being played by other musicians. When you find an instrument that you and child like the sound of, buy that one. As your child learn his instrument, the ear will learn to attune itself to any deficiencies an instrument may have and the pleasure if playing it will be enhanced greatly.
