The festivals of all the festivals

The Isle of Wight is home to more festivals than you can shake a stick at (there’s probably a festival dedicated to stick-shaking as well. For the more nautical but nice, there’s Cowes Week of course and the place also hosts the UK’s largest Walking Festival as well as a Garlic Festival. For the less well heeled, and non-yacht owning and those with an interest in dancing rather than sailing, you may wish to consider Bestival as an alternative. But the master festival of all festivals has to be the legendary Isle of Wight Festival.

The origin of the festival was a field near Godshill, IOW in 1968, where a group of hippies congregated for a single day event. Jefferson Airplane was the only headlining act to appear at the festival, performing on a stage made from two trailers bolted together. Support was provided by rock newbies The Move with Roy Wood, and an anoymous outfit called T-Rex. This ‘mess’ of a rock festival was the first to be held in this country, and hinted at what was to come in future generations. 2010’s Isle of Wight Festival runs from 10th to 13th June and is sure to keep up the recent good work, but it wasn’t always like that.

The [Isle of Wight Festival|IOW festival] became far more ambitious in 1969, expanding to two whole days and headlined by Bob Dylan, mainly because the prospect of performing on Tennyson’s home ground appealed to him– that and he saw a film of the island. Some of the best acts that followed included Free, The Who and Joe Cocker. The Isle of Wight Festival promoters, flushed with success, decided to ramp up the guest list for the 1970 festival with the inclusion of Jimi Hendrix topping the bill (his last performance before his death a month later), Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, The Who, The Moody Blues and Free. The five day festival and carnival was supposed to be the English answer to ‘Woodstock’, but sadly the love and peace ethos of the American original was not on show as almost one million hippies went on the rampage across the island forcing the authorities to clamp down on future festivals. Festivals were banned on the Isle of Wight after Parliament passed the ‘Isle of Wight Act’ in 1970.

After a 32 year absence it came back in 2002 with the Charlatans headlining supported by Robert Plant. Thousands of music fans took [Isle of Wight ferries|IOW ferries|a ferry to Isle of Wight|an Isle of Wight ferry|an IOW ferry] to enjoy the festival’s revival and this was just the start of things to come. Once hooked to the Island festival scene, it is only natural to return for Bestival which is traditionally and end-of-summer event.

Guitar frets stretching exercise

When you begin playing the guitar one of the problem beginners suffer from is not beginning able to stretch their figures far enough so they can play the chords they wish to. So as a beginner playing the guitar it can sometimes feel awkward and uncomfortable but once you follow this exercise you will be playing all the notes you want to without this awkward feeling, that makes everything difficult. So to begin with, you need to start small then go bigger as you get better. So we are going to be playing the F major 7th chord which is nothing to be scared off it just a chord like any other but it does make you stretch. So if you don’t know how to play an F major 7th chord that’s ok I will tell you where your fingers go.

Place your third finger on the fourth string third fret, your second finger on the third string second fret and your first finger on the second string first fret. it’s important to have an open string under that. now that you have your fingers on the strings you where told to you might feel awkward don’t worry this is normal for beginners it’s because it has the largest strech for your fingers. The closer you come towards you or up the frets the smaller the distance between each fret becomes. So keep the same f major 7 and slide it down the guitar and find a fret that feel comfortable around the 9th or 10th fret is normally i good spot to start. Don’t go too far down the frets it will become too difficult because the frets become to closer and this will make it hard also. once you have the position best for you hold it until it feel good then move down the frets of the guitat until you get to the first fret where we began. Now that you have master the F major 7th cord you will be able to apply this technique and skill to all unknown notes and chords.

How to Mount and Install a Satellite Radio

Satellite radios were produced to give a fun entertainment while driving at the comfort of your own car. In the United States, a lot of drivers tune in to their favorite music or sports channel while driving. This device helps in breaking silence or provides enjoyment especially if you’re driving a very long road.

When you have the plan to install a radio unit in your vehicle, be sure to get the latest and best satellite tuner. Installing a satellite radio gives you the option to either pay someone to install it or do it by yourself. If you want a cheaper budget, you can install it by your own hands. Don’t worry, this page will help you how to install a satellite radio.

1. Install the antenna.

The antenna of a satellite radio is a component which is hard to install in a vehicle. Choose a specific area of your vehicle from the inside or the outside. Make sure the location of the antenna will have a clear view of the sky so reception will properly work. Many people mount antennas on the front of the roof just near the edge of the windshield. After selecting the best location, find where the wire should run. You may run the wire from the outside by using the rubber seals and under the dashboard of your vehicle.

2. Mount the satellite radio.

Once the antenna and wire are mounted, install the satellite radio unit. Look for a nice sport where you will mount the radio. You may use a rubber suction device which will be placed on the windshield. Also, you can switch to a fabric fastener if you need a more secured mount. Through a fabric fastener, attach the bracket to the dashboard, windshield or other location you have chosen. Then, install the satellite radio receiver on the receiver mount you have placed.

3. Connect the audio.

After the antenna, wire and radio unit are installed, you only need to connect the audio to the stereo. Use the input of the stereo, which is the best type of connection. Connect one end of the connector wire or cable to the headphone output of the satellite radio unit and another one to the stereo’s input. In case your stereo doesn’t have any input, you can use an FM transmitter. Most of the satellite radios have an integrated FM transmitter. This transmitter will help you find any unused radio station in order to receive signal from the satellite radio.

Antennas are needed in all satellite radios to produce music and other live channels such as sports and news channels. What’s good about satellite receivers is that they use wireless technology. This means you can listen to your vehicle radio without connecting a wire to the receiver. Other option is to have a high-end single speaker or double speakers. Only run one more wire from the back of your receiver cradle to your vehicle stereo. Sometimes, you need the help of an expert here, so it’s better to ask some inquiries.
