1952 marked the beginning of the modern day guitar revolution. It was in this year that Les Paul and Gibson teamed up to create the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar. His unique design spurred the industry in a new direction and expanded on the idea of the electric guitar that became wildly popular. Since then, Les Paul's guitar has gained traction with guitarists through the decades to finally rise to icon status.

The rich, storied history of the unique Gibson Les Paul electric guitar still attracts guitar enthusiasts and collectors to this day. The unique tone spectrum of the guitar is used by many studio musicians. Many notable musicians use this guitar still today. Some notable users have been: Chet Atkins, Chuck Berry, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, The Edge, David Grohl, Eric Johnson, Ted Nugent, Keith Richards and many, many more. It has a rich clientele that continues to grow, making this guitar one of the most landmark electric instruments to hit the market.

I went to Maiden’s twickenham gig in June last year, and there were 5 seperate full-sized merchandise stands around and inside the venue which were always packed. one of the music industires dirty secrets: bands dont make money on album sales generally, but on touring and merchandise sales. For bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica who sell thousands of t-shirts at concerts this is a very sweet piece of pie, considering twickenham holds 55,000 people for concerts, and a t-shirt was £20 each, not knowing the sales figures we cant really do the maths -im betting its a HUGE number in the five figure region. But when they were a smaller band in the late 70’s early 80s Merch sales were keeping them on the road until 1983’s ‘number of the beast’ exploded and took them to the next level as a band. Cannibal Corpse’s bloody imagery that is shown on their t-shirts have kept them making a living out of their music and on tour for years.

Promotional merchandise can also help get your bands name out there.

People will buy cool looking merchandise to wear/ display, out in public, which will be seen by other people, and if they also like the design/ logo, they may come to a gig or at least check out your myspace page. The more people are exposed to your logo, the more can become interested and quickly become merch buying fans. Unless your a die hard fan, most people will buy one copy of the album (why would you need anymore?) but 2 or 3 t-shirts to wear out.

Well, I apparently sprained my finger today at work pretty badly. We got a new shipment of merchandise and rentals (I work at BlockBuster), and I am one of the first ones outside helping with the shipments and unpacking the boxes, putting things on the shelves for display. Behind the counter is where we store the actual DVDS for the rentals (the display boxes are just empty DVD cases to avoid shoplifting). Well, I reached in to the desk drawer to pull out a copy for some movie that I was holding for someone, and my hand got caught and jammed in the drawer and couldn’t get out. There was a little blood, and I was literally on the floor because of the pain. They gave me the rest of the day off and I don’t plan on returning until Monday. In the meantime, my hand has swollen up to about three times its normal size. There is a HUGE scab on the side of my finger from where I cut it today, but my whole finger is HUGELY swollen. I compared it to other hand, and the size is definitely not normal size. Not to mention, now there is a huge discolored bruise from where I jammed the drawer on my finger directly. Has kind of a brownish/blue & purple color. I have tried multiple things to nurse my finger. 1- I have covered it in ice for about two hours, didn’t help. I have taken advil- didn’t help. 3- I have tried taping it- didn’t help. And the weird thing is, no matter how badly it hurrts, I am still able to bend my finger, and make a fist. But, this is definitely not my week. I mean yesterday, I get a phone call saying that one of my friends commit suicide, and today- this. What do I do?

amputate the finger! – just joking!
you need a splint to immobilize the finger , take motrin for the pain & swelling.

I live in an apartment community. The rent is very high compared to other apartments in my city. I have been living here going on two years. I live in a gated community. The gate is constantly broke. The gate stays broke for months at a time. Whenever I have had a maintenance call I have to call at least three times before anything is done and I have to wait for at least two months before maintenance shows up. I looked on my apartment communities website and it says that they are prompt with their maintenance calls and that they always give a call after maintenance is performed. I have never received a phone call after maintenance is performed at my apartment. There is also a buildboard that says my apartment complex is a place of relaxation. I recently purchased a new car with rims. Somebody tried to steal the rims off my car but they were not successful. They did steal the center piece off my rims and the legs off my rims; they also vandalized my car. The gate was broke when this happened. The next day I told my apartment manager what happened. I told her the gate has been broke for awhile and if it wasn’t broke my car would not have been vandalized. She told me the gate was for privacy not security. The gate is an iron gate that you can see through; how is it for privacy? The very next day the gate was fixed. When I told my neighbor what happened she told me her car has been broken into at least three times since she has lived out here. She also told me that my other neighbors cars or apartment has been broken into at least once. When I went into the rental office to get a copy of the video tape from the gate from the night my car was broken into I notice a sign in the rental office that says that my apartment was a place to stay that will keep your mind at ease. How is this a place where you can keep your mind at ease when there is thiefs going on out here frequently? My rental manager was suspose to give me an hours worth of video footage from the night my car got vandalized when I watched it; it was only 5 minutes worth allthough on the dvd it is labeled for an hour time period.I believe my apartment complex is guilty of false advertisement. I pay way too much money to get poor performance on maintenance and to get my car vandalized and all at the same time my apartment complex is advertising itself to be a place of relaxation and a place where you can live and keep your mind at ease. So I just want to know do I have a case against the company I am renting from or am I making a big deal out of nothing? I am still currently living here so I’m trying to be careful. Please let me know what you think; any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I forgot to mention that I came home from work one day and could clearly see that somebody tried to break into my apartment. Maintenance had to change the locks on my door because my key would not fit in the door because somebody stuck something in the key hole. My air conditioner has gone out twice since I have lived here and both times I had to wait hours before it got fixed. About once a month there is a sign put out at the gate entrance that says air filters will be changed today; I have been living here almost two years and not one time have they come and changed my air filter. I always have to wait till my air conditioner goes out before they come and change it; and every time maintenance has come to fix my air conditioner the first thing they say is my air filters have not been changed. Again I am paying way too much money for this. I can get an apartment and litterally pay half of what I am paying for rent now and be in a better living environment.

No, you do not have a case against your landlord. The security gates are for the security of the property, not your own personal safety or the safety of your items.

The community is not falsely advertising. They are stating that you CAN live there and keep your mind at ease, but they don’t GUARANTEE you can do so. No one could do that, just as no one can personally guarantee your safety. You can live in the most expensive apartment in the world – you can even live in the most expensive house in the world, with a security guard, and you can still get vandalized and broken into – look what happens at stars’ homes.

Your AC went out twice in two years? And you only had to wait hours to get it fixed? Sounds like great maintenance service to me. If you think you can get this kind of service and a better living environment and pay half the price, then knock yourself out. I have a feeling your management team will throw a party the day you move out. I suggest you go buy a home, because you are a property manager’s worst nightmare.
