Will DVD rental shops go out of fashion in the next, say 5 years?
I'm seriously thinking of buying a clients shop who is immigrating to NZ. The shop is a very well known franchise, and I have been doing the books for three years. There is no catch. I know itunes and the rest is killing the music cd industry.
No way. Some people like the hassle of going to a DVD store to find what movie they want to rent. It is not the same to just see titles online. Being able to physcially hold a DVD is liked by a lot of people.

Can A DVD rental store tell if you copied a movie onto a computer using a 3rd party program?
I mean like can they tell if you used a program such as "Magic DVD Ripper" or any of the other various programs to make copy of the DVD for your computer before returning it to the video store.

is it possible to copy videos from dvds that i rent at blockbuster or other dvd rental places?
what equipment or programs do i need? is it easy? i just want this for my own personal viewing. I'd like to store them on an external drive.
Yep, it's totally possible. Legal? That's for your lawyer to figure out.
As an experiment to learn about copyright technology, you can download a trial version of AnyDVD from Slysoft, and a copy of CloneDVD from the same company. AnyDVD will strip the copyright information from the DVD, and ClonDVD will allow you to make a copy of it.

why can I not wacth a new DVD rental on my computer?
I have a dvd player burner on my computer..have played many but yhe last two fron the rental store will not load or is it's like nothing is their.
The DVD might have copyright protection in case you copy it just try it on an ordinary DVD player.
