What's the best way to get movies? Video store? Download? Online rental? Walmart?

Please be specific.

Most convenient and cost effective way is through online rental. I've tried Netflix and Blockbuster Online simultaneously (head-to-head) and Blockbuster is much better pound for pound.

I pay $17.99 a month and I get usually 6-12 movies per week. I also get the newest releases AT Blockbuster using the weekly coupon they send me for a free rental. It's AWESOME.

Here's the promo code I used to get a free trial month:

Code – 40037

Video copy right, Renting videos online.?

So I am researching about video rentals. How blockbusters rents videos to people without getting in trouble and how netflixs does it too but online without facing a huge law suit. I was reading section 109 of the US copyright law (title 17 of the US code). It's frequently referred to as "the right of first sale". It says that once you own a copy of a work (including a movie) that copy is yours to do what you want with. You can give it to someone, lend it, rent it, sell it, even destroy it if you so wish.

My question is how does that apply to streaming rentals? If i had a website with streaming videos for say like on Google videos or veoh pro. Example, say i bought the movie 300 and then put it on veoh pro and charged each viewer 20cent to watch it, what do i have to go through so i don't get in trouble. I am just researching right now and just trying to understand this more. I will later meet with an attorney for more guidance.

If anyone have any suggestions or advise thanks.

Streaming video is not covered under first sale. When you stream, you're actually creating another physical copy of the work. That is, a source computer sends the video to the receiving computer, and the receiving video stores that video in memory (usually temporarily) in order to play the video. The unauthorized copy is likely copyright infringement.

Netflix likely has licensing deals with the movie studios to stream their content. Note that not all movies are available for Netflix streaming. I suspect this is because some movie studios will not agree to streaming content, or the licensing price is too high.

In short, if you're business model is to stream copyrighted video content, you will need permission to do so legally.
