Movies And Their Music

There have been some fantastic pieces of music in the movies there is no doubt about that. What is it that makes a good bit of movie magic? Music is becoming more and more important as the film industry grows and it seems to be that it adds a lot of power to the movies.

What Is It That Makes Movie Magic?

Effects How You See The Film

One of the other factors that come into it is if it effects you when you are watching the film, any emotion means the music has done the trick. The recent blockbuster smash hit Avatar is a prime example where the music was perfect, partly why it is up for an Oscar. Although it isn’t the music that made the film, it certainly helped bring that realism to it when being watched in 3D.

Emotions

Emotion is something that is always important when a composer is thinking about what to write. If a piece of music makes you feel something whether that is anger, sadness or even happiness you know that it has worked. Directors are always looking for music to do this to the audience as it further adds a bit of realism to the movie.

Instruments

You cannot have a wild set of drum kits playing during a romantic film, this would just not work at all. One of the most important things to know is that you must have the right instruments for the film, this is key. A guitar solo in the middle of an action scene from an awesome bass guitars player is going to get a reaction. The thing is, if you put something like that into a slow film you will get a negative reaction from the audience.

So the next time you are watching a film, make sure you listen out for the fantastic music that comes with it. Although you will not often hear DJ equipment you will agree that without music a film would not be the same.

Is Older Better? Ask a Vintage Guitar

Why, you say would anyone want to have an old instrument as opposed to a new one? Hand made guitars age well over time. The sound of the guitar will change over time and become more soothing .
Is it a vintage guitar only because it is old?.

A vintage guitar has other factors that also are important when looking at buying one. If a guitar was made only in a short run and color, this makes it more unavailable and raises the price, generally speaking. There are various models of Martin guitars that are scarcebecause they were made in short runs of an individual design.

The finish was the main prize on a Les Paul Gold Top guitar. Some guitars such as the Fender Stratocaster were cherished because the manufacturing process was superior in a certain time period. Signature guitars are made for, or at least endorsed by a famous musician and the guitar bears their name. Although not making it a vintage guitar, the endorsement does raise the value. If a guitar was owned by someone famous, that of course makes it more valuable and increases its value. If you could prove that Santana played the guitar, that would make it more valuable as well. A guitar can be valued if it is also highly playable and has a great sound, regardless of the age.

Guitar amplifiers are also considered to be vintage in some cases. Some of the amplifiers that fit into this category are Fender,Vox and Marshall. The tube circuitry is largely responsible for the sound of these amps.

Many vintage guitars today are valued as works of art and are treated as such. A vintage guitar is a piece of history of todays modern guitar.Knowing that so and so played the guitar really adds to its reputation  and enjoyment. The sound of rock and roll itself are contained in these instruments.

Some guitars need some loving restoration and play and sound like the original did many years ago.

What Instrument Should You learn?

There are so many instruments out there it can be very difficult to know which one you should really chase when it comes to learning how to play. It really does depend on just how old you are on which instrument I would recommend you learn.

The Recorder

So many people think that this instrument is a bit of a joke but it is a really good first instrument to learn how to play and play smaller songs to. Many children still learn to play these instruments at school simply because not only are they easy to play but cheap to buy too.

The Guitar

Guitars have to be next on the list as they are relatively easy to teach, at least the simple chords are anyway. It really does take someone with a lot of skill to play some of the good tunes but to play a simple song is quite easy.

Drums

Drum Kits also have to be top on the list of instruments to learn. One of the really good things about these is that you can just hammer away at them if you really cannot be bothered to learn them properly. This one is one of my favourites and that is not just because I can play, it lets a lot of stress out which is great.

Of course there are many, many more instruments you can pick up and learn but these are some of the well known ones. Other trickier ones include the violin, piano and yes DJ Equipment. Although I have to say it is hard to pick up and learn something like this I will also say that I am not a fan of anything to do with a DJ.

Although many people think it, it isnt easy to learn how to play an instrument so just be warned on this one.

Guitar Playing Guide : Choosing A Guitar

So, you want to learn to play the guitar? Congratulations, you’re now at the beginning of a fun and rewarding journey.

The first thing you now need to do is make an important decision – what type of guitar is the right one for you? Well, it all depends on the type of music you want to play. Are you into Rock or blues, metal, country, funk, etc.? Whichever type of music you prefer, there’s pretty much a range of guitars to suit it.

As an example, if you enjoy listening to harder rock, like metal, then purchasing an Ibanez, Jackson or Washburn electric guitar would be best for you. Or, if softer rock is more your thing, a guitar by Fender, Gibson or Yamaha would be the better choice.

The best thing to do after having done a little online research is to pay a visit to a guitar store and get a hands on feel of some. I’d be lying if I said you only buy guitars based on their make, they’ve got to look and feel comfortable too.

Many players stick to one make or model of guitar simply because it’s their favourite in terms of look, feel and sound. In fact, Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, two of the greatest guitar players of all time, played Fender Stratocasters almost exclusively. Jimmy Page played a Gibson Les Paul as does Slash from Guns n Roses. I’d suggest looking up all your favourite guitar players online and finding out what type of guitar they typically use, then go and try those out in the store.

Another piece of advice is to look out for and ask the store employees about the ‘action’ of any guitars that interest you. This is the space between the strings and the neck, so the higher the action the harder you have to press down on the string and ultimately the harder it is to play.

Unfortunately many guitars are made without the correct care and attention these days and many make it into stores with terribly high action. Should you get one like this, it’s quite possible that playing will hurt your fingers so much that you’ll feel like giving up after a couple of weeks. Don’t worry though, let the sales assistant know that you’re aware of this issue and they’ll show you guitars with actions that are well matched to your playing ability.
